Do I need to have a pet to live in the Animal Friendly LLC?

No!  You are not required to have a pet to live in the Animal Friendly LLC; however please know your apartment mates and neighbors will have pets and you should be comfortable living with one.

What type of pet can I bring?

Large animals are permitted such as cats, dogs (under 40 lbs when fully grown), large birds, ferrets, and chinchillas. Small animals are also permitted such as fish, small birds, rats, hamsters, gerbils, guinea pigs, amphibians, and small reptiles.  For more specific information regarding cages, tanks, and number of animals per apartment, please review the CU Pet Policy

What part of Reinhard Villages is Animal Friendly?

For the 2019-2020 academic year, Brooke Trout has been identified as the village that will host the new LLC.  This housing is for students that are sophomores, juniors, or seniors.  

Are there any type of fees associated with bringing a pet?

If you are requesting to bringing a pet, paperwork will need to be completed prior to the animal arriving and a $200.00 pet fee will be required for the current academic year.  This fee will be required for every academic year that you bring your pet, even if you are residing in the same apartment.  To have the pet over the summer, a $100 pet fee will be required. 

If you switch rooms within the LLC, you will not have to repay the pet fee for that academic year  or current summer term.  

If I have the same pet, will I have to complete the paperwork every year to be approved? 

Yes.  Every year the paperwork must be resubmitted to Residence Life for approval.  Vaccines and vet checks will have to be current and the paperwork must be updated.

What is considered aggressive behavior for a pet?

Aggressive behavior would be defined as any behavior connected with an attack or impending attack.  Residence Life would need to be made aware of the concern and the resident would be referred to the office of Judicial and Mediation Services.
