The pre-professional programs have nine different areas of focus from which to choose including chiropractic, dentistry, medical, optometry, pharmacy, physical therapy, physician's assistant, podiatry and veterinary medicine. Undergraduate

Pre-professional Chiropractic

Pre-professional studies involves your university preparation for pursuing a career in many different health-related fields. It is more than just coursework and majors; it is the guiding and instructing of the student who wishes more – to be more. Students can begin their chiropractic studies with the pre-professional program. Chiropractic medicine focuses on the relationship between the body’s main structures – the skeleton, the muscles and the nerves – and the patient’s health. Chiropractors believe that health can be improved and preserved by making adjustments to these structures, particularly to the spinal column. They do not prescribe drugs or perform surgical procedures, although they do refer patients for these services if they are medically indicated. This program is offered only at the Clarion campus.

Pre-professional studies involves your university preparation for pursuing a career in many different health-related fields. It is more than just coursework and majors; it is the guiding and instructing of the student who wishes more – to be more. Students can begin their dental studies with the pre-professional program. Dentistry is the branch of the healing arts and sciences devoted to maintaining oral health. It is a dynamic health profession, offering opportunities to become a successful, highly respected member of the community. This program is offered only at the Clarion campus.

Pre-professional Medicine

Pre-professional studies involves your university preparation for pursuing a career in many different health-related fields. It is more than just coursework and majors; it is the guiding and instructing of the student who wishes more – to be more. People can begin their medical studies with the pre-professional program. People with medical education are in demand in many areas. Physicians work in one or more specialties, including, among others: anesthesiology, family and general medicine, general internal medicine , general pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, psychiatry, and surgery. This program is offered only at the Clarion campus.

Pre-professional Optometry

Pre-professional studies involves your university preparation for pursuing a career in many different health-related fields. It is more than just coursework and majors; it is the guiding and instructing of the student who wishes more – to be more. Students can begin their optometry studies with the pre-professional program. Doctors of optometry are the independent primary health care professionals for the eye. Optometrists examine, diagnose, treat and manage diseases, injuries and disorders of the visual system, the eye and associated structures. They also identify related systemic conditions affecting the eye. ODs diagnose and treat, prescribe medications, perform certain surgical procedures, provide vision therapy and low vision rehabilitation and assist patients with eyeglasses and contact lenses. This program is offered only at the Clarion campus.

Pre-professional Pharmacy

Pre-professional studies involves your university preparation for pursuing a career in many different health-related fields. It is more than just coursework and majors; it is the guiding and instructing of the student who wishes more – to be more. Students can begin their pharmaceutical studies with the pre-professional program. Pharmacists dispense medications prescribed by physicians and other health practitioners and monitor patient health. They advise physicians and other health practitioners on the selection, dosages, interactions and side effects of medications. This program is offered only at the Clarion campus.

Pre-professional Physician Assistant

Pre-professional studies involves your university preparation for pursuing a career in many different health-related fields. It is more than just coursework and majors; it is the guiding and instructing of the student who wishes more – to be more. Students can begin their physician assistant studies with the pre-professional program. Physician assistants can practice and prescribe medicine in all 50 states and the District of Columbia (regulations vary by state) under the license of a physician, can work in a variety of health care settings, and although PAs are trained as generalists in medicine, they can also work in specialty areas, such as orthopedics, emergency medicine, or cardiology for example. This program is offered only at the Clarion campus.

Pre-professional studies involves your university preparation for pursuing a career in many different health-related fields. It is more than just course work and majors; it is the guiding and instructing of the student who wishes more – to be more. Students can begin their podiatric studies with the pre-professional program. Podiatric medicine is a branch of the medical sciences devoted to the study of human movement, with the medical care of the foot and ankle as its primary focus. A doctor of podiatric medicine is to the foot what a dentist is to the mouth or an ophthalmologist to the eye - a specialist who has undergone lengthy, thorough study to become uniquely well-qualified to treat a specific part of the body. This program is offered only at the Clarion campus.

Pre-professional Veterinary Medicine

Pre-professional studies involves your university preparation for pursuing a career in many different health-related fields. It is more than just coursework and majors; it is the guiding and instructing of the student who wishes more – to be more. Students can begin their veterinary studies with the pre-professional program. Veterinarians play a major role in the healthcare of pets, livestock, zoo, sporting, and laboratory animals. Some veterinarians use their skills to protect humans against diseases carried by animals and conduct clinical research on human and animal health problems. Others work in basic research, broadening the scope of fundamental theoretical knowledge, and in applied research, developing new ways to use knowledge. This program is offered only at the Clarion campus.
