Clarion University's accounting program prepares students, like you, to succeed in accounting and finance professions. The department’s experienced faculty is enhanced by small class sizes which will prepare you for the workforce as well as for a graduate degree in accounting, business, or law. The program has three concentrations to better meet your career goals and needs. This program is offered at the Clarion campus, Butler County Community College Campus, and online.
B.S.B.A. Accounting: Industry Concentration
Clarion University's accounting program with an Industry concentration is best suited to students who do not desire to pursue a professional certification, but instead want to work in industry, which includes large and small organizations as well as non-profits and government entities. It is also well suited to someone who knows they want to enter the Masters of Accounting (MAcc) program after graduation. Those in the MAcc program pursue the CPA certification and complete the 150-hour requirement that CPAs must satisfy so there is no need for them to pursue the CPA as an undergrad. This program is offered at the Clarion campus, Butler County Community College Campus, and online.
B.S.B.A. Accounting: Internal Audit and Forensic Accounting Concentration
Clarion University's accounting program with an Internal Audit and Forensic Accounting concentration is best suited to students who desire to become a Certified Internal Auditor. Internal auditing has become very important and in-demand over the past two decades with just about every large and mid-sized firm, and some smaller firms, hiring internal auditors. Public accounting firms now hire internal auditors to provide internal audit services to their clients. Graduates from this concentration also earn a minor in Data Analytics, which is a much desired attribute for internal auditors. This program is offered at the Clarion campus, Butler County Community College Campus, and online.
Minor in Accounting
The accounting minor is available to students with any major from any college, including those in the College of Business Administration and Information Sciences. The accounting minor complements almost any career as employers are searching for graduates who are business savvy. This program is offered at the Clarion campus and online.
Minor in Internal Audit and Forensic Accounting
This minor is designed for accounting-minded students who want to find employment in the fields of internal audit or forensic accounting but do not wish to earn a four-year degree in those areas. The varied content is designed to provide students with sufficient knowledge to be able to work in the fields of internal audit or forensic accounting, while using the knowledge gained from their major studies to complement their skill set. This program is offered at the Clarion campus and online.
The Master of Science in accounting (MAcc) degree will prepare students for careers in corporate and public accounting as well as satisfying the education requirements to sit for the CPA exam and then receive the CPA certificate in almost any state. This program will provide students with essential accounting and financial analysis skills and the ability to communicate that knowledge within their workplace. The coursework is designed to also prepare students to pass the CPA exam. A graduate of Clarion’s online M.S. in accounting (MAcc) program will be qualified for employment with the big four and other CPA firms as well as with industry, government and not-for-profit organizations. It will also be beneficial to those who want to be self-employed. The program can be completed in one year for full-time students or over a longer period of time for those who want to attend part-time. This program is offered only online.
