How to apply to the LECOM program


The following must be completed to apply to the program.

Affiliation Program Information & Application

Students accepted into this affiliation program will complete undergraduate pre-pharmacy study at Clarion University (Phase I) and graduate study at the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) School of Pharmacy (Phase II). Students who are accepted into this LECOM affiliation and successfully complete 1) the required pre-pharmacy coursework, 2) all requirements of Phase I and II, and 3) a successful interview at LECOM School of Pharmacy are guaranteed a seat in LECOM’s next incoming class.

Five seats are reserved for five Clarion University affiliation students for the LECOM Pharmacy affilation. Early Acceptance Program Applications (EAP) for affiliation seats are accepted from incoming high school students and/or Clarion University students, and are reviewed by the Pre-Professional Committee for recommendation to LECOM. Below represents a summary of criteria and requirements.

Early Acceptance Program (for High School Applicants)
[Review of applicants begins Nov. 1]

  • Must have SAT scores of a minimum 1170 (Math & Verbal) if the exam was taken before March 1, 2016, an SAT of at least 1240 (combined score) if the exam was taken after March 1, 2016, ACT score of 26 or higher, and a High School GPA ≥ 3.5 or higher based on a 4.0 scale.
  • Essay describing your desire to become a pharmacist and the personal traits you possess that will contribute to your success in the 3(4)+ Affiliation Program at Clarion, at LECOM, and in your career as an pharmacist.
  • Be approved by the CUP Pre-Professional Committee
  • Maximum of 8 credits of AP, dual enrollment, or transfer credits are allowed

Early Acceptance Program (for CUP Applicants)
[Deadline for online LECOM EAP Inquiry is Feb. 1; Review of applicants at CUP begins Feb. 1]

  • Must have a CUP GPA ≥ 3.4 after two semesters
  • Essay describing your desire to become a pharmacist and the personal traits you possess that will contribute to your success in the 3(4)+ Affiliation Program at Clarion, at LECOM, and in your career as an pharmacist.
  • Be approved by the CUP Pre-Professional Committee

Criteria for Phase I (Preparation for LECOM while at CUP)

  • Pursue of plan of study to earn a BS Chemistry: Biochemistry Concentration
  • Complete 90 credits at CUP
  • With a successful interview with LECOM, the applicant will receive a provisional letter of acceptance to LECOM.

Phase II Requirements (LECOM Matriculation)

  • Submit PharmCAS (Pharmacy College Application Service) Application [Deadline is Nov. 15 &
  • LECOM Supplemental Dec. 31 of year prior to LECOM matriculation]
  • No PCAT score required; however, a LECOM writing assessment is due by Dec. 31 of year prior to
  • LECOM matriculation
  • Overall GPA ≥ 3.4; Science GPA ≥ 3.2
  • Completion of all Phase I requirements at Clarion University
