The second annual Clarion SummerFest sponsored by Clarion University takes place Wednesday, July 2 and Thursday, July 3. SummerFest includes three unique events—Farmers National Bank Jazz and Blues Fest, Taste of Clarion and I Love Clarion--in one tremendous celebration.

SummerFest kicks off Wednesday with sidewalk sales in downtown Clarion from

9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Parking is free courtesy of the Clarion Borough Council. That evening the fun continues with the Farmers National Bank Jazz and Blues Fest from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. JAB Fest features local jazz and blues artists from 5 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. The Clarion River Jazz Octet plays from

6:30 p.m. - 8 p.m. Bring a lawn chair and a friend to enjoy the local artistry. Admission is free to all jazz performances.

While grooving to the music, festival goers can enjoy the best local food during Taste of Clarion. This portion of the festival includes food from the area’s restaurants and caterers. Tickets for the food items are fifty cents (.50) each with the food establishment determining the number of tickets required per sample. Menus and tickets are available starting Monday, June 21 at the Clarion Area Chamber office (located at 21 North 6th Avenue) or during the event on the south corner of Main Street and 6th Avenue. The great music and the tasty food can be found on Sixth Avenue, between Main and Merle Street that Wednesday.

On Thursday, SummerFest moves to the Clarion University Memorial Stadium from

7 p.m. - 10 p.m. I Love Clarion is a celebration of the finest kind, with entertainment provided by local country favorite the Wrangler Band. I Love Clarion honors our independence and community. Taste of Clarion continues on Thursday, featuring more of the area’s best eats. Local restaurants and caterers are joined by non-profit organizations to sell food and refreshments. SummerFest ends with a bang; Cartwright Firework presents a firework spectacular at dusk.
