badgeThere are three majors and one minor for more than 200 Psychology students at Clarion. The department's size offers the perfect combination of courses and services coupled with a family atmosphere that includes active mentoring for students.

"We take interested students under our wing and actively mentor them," says Dr. Randy Potter, chair. The department includes 8 full-time faculty members.

Degrees Offered:

"We have a faculty who care about their teaching, are active innovators in research and service on teaching, and are widely acknowledged as excellent teachers," Potter said. "Several have been nominated as master teachers and two have served as directors of the Honors Program.

Students in Research, Applied Experience - Clarion students are heavily involved with research. In one year, for example, students can attend the conferences of the:

  • American Psychological Association
  • Eastern Psychological Association
  • Cognitive Aging
  • Advancement of College Teaching and Learning

Students are encouraged to get applied experience in the field. Experience is obtained through local domestic violence and non-profit centers and through student organizations.

Graduates are very successful getting jobs and continuing their education at graduate school. Students have been accepted into Widener University, Brandeis University, University of Pittsburgh, Indiana University, University of Delaware, and many more.
