Alumna Carter leads seminar about gender equity in academia

Dr. Laurie Carter, a 1986 graduate of Clarion University, is one of five female African American college presidents/administrators who will present Shippensburg University’s virtual leadership challenge seminar, “From Challenge to Change: Leading the Next Generation of Women for Change in a Global Economy.” Carter is president of Shippensburg University.

The seminar begins at 5:30 p.m. March 8 on Zoom. All are welcome to join.

Joining Carter on the panel will be:

  • Dr. Vernell A. Bennett-Fairs, president of LeMoyne-Owen College
  • Dr. Muriel Howard, former president of American Association of Colleges and Universities and SUNY Buffalo
  • Dr. Maria Lumpkin, interim president of St. Augustine University
  • Dr. Anna Ponder, vice president for development at University of South Carolina Beaufort

They will provide guidance in how authentic leaders support gender equity in academic institutions.
