Welcome to the fall 2021 semester

August 18, 2021

Welcome BackWelcome back to Clarion University! We hope you had a productive and relaxing summer break and are ready to begin the fall semester.

Don't forget to check the Office of the Registrar if you have any questions about important dates if you are preparing to graduate this semester.

Even if you're not graduating this semester, please remember there are several key resources that will come in handy this year.

First, check out the COVID-19 informational pages, which will give you a better picture of what your campus experience should entail and the expectations the university community has for you and others. We also encourage students to get vaccinated to protect yourself and others.

You also should familiarize yourself with the Student Success Center, which houses different programs to aid in your academic progress. The Student Success Center features:

  • Advising Services
  • Disability Support
  • Educational Talent Search
  • Minority Student Services
  • TRiO Support Programs
  • Tutoring and Learning Skills
  • Upward Bound
  • The Writing Center

Before you turn in a project or take an exam, take a few minutes and unwind with the meditation room located in the first floor sunroom in Becht Hall. This relaxing space is one of several lounges in Becht where you can take a break. Students are permitted to relax in university buildings, but mask wearing and appropriate social distancing must take place.

Career Services in 419 Becht Hall helps you prepare for your future. Build a resume, participate in a mock interview and visit job fairs to help you succeed. Career Services has events and tips to help you in every stage of the job search.

Another important service is campus Counseling Services in 256 Becht Hall. Trained counselors are there to help you deal with life's issues and concerns.

You'll want to make use of the state-of-the-art university libraries for researching ideas and to use as a quiet place to study.

The Clarion University Store, now located on the first floor of the Gemmell Student Center, has all of your Clarion University merchandise and accessories. For textbooks, visit eCampus's website, Clarion's new textbook provider, to find your course materials.

Finally, don't forget to make time for fun – an important part of the college experience. There are more than 150 campus organizations with which you can get involved, a campus movie theater, as well as downtown shops and restaurants.

Celebrate fall with the Autumn Leaf Festival. Our homecoming festivities coincide with the 68th year of the festival, which features food vendors and festivities for nine days in Clarion.

Throughout the semester, take advantage of the university's close proximity to hiking trails like the one beside Still Hall or the many trails in Cook Forest where one can go kayaking or hiking.

Enjoy your fall semester as a Golden Eagle and remember to keep your Wings Up and your mask on.
