Clarion University is No. 1 for medical assistant programs

MAAClarion University has the top medical assistant programs in Pennsylvania according to Medical Assistant Advice.

Clarion is the only school in the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education to appear on the list of 18 schools. Clarion ranked No. 1 for its administrative medical assistant and clinical medical assistant programs.

After reviewing the schools that offered programs in each state, Medical Assistant Advice reviewed and ranked the schools based on the total number of students enrolled, graduation rate, average net price, full-time retention rate and admissions rate.

Clarion's administrative medical assistant module provides students with training to function in many administrative and clerical positions in health care. Medical administrative assistants, medical secretary and medical records clerks are positions in great demand. The program covers important background information on medical terminology, insurance billing and coding, medical ethics, customer services and legal aspects. Students receive a well-rounded introduction to medical administration and gain skills to obtain a medical administrative assistant position in health care.

The Clinical Medical Assistant module provides students with the skills necessary to function in the back office setting of medical practices. Students will learn to collect vitals, the various medical instruments, draping and positioning, medical record documentation, suturing, administration of EKGs, immunizations/injections, and how to assist in minor office surgery.
