Welcome back

August 17, 2020
President Dale-Elizabeth PehrssonGreetings Students and Colleagues,

Welcome to the fall 2020 semester! We at Clarion University are so very excited for the semester to launch! To returning students, we are glad to have you back as you continue your educational journey. To new students who are just joining our fine community, make the most of your time here. Your energy and investment shapes your college experience, so make the most of it. To my colleagues, welcome back, and to those who have been working diligently all summer preparing for the fall, please accept my thanks!

Three key points were at the forefront of our planning for this fall:

  • It is most critical to keep our community as safe as we can during this continued pandemic;
  • Moving to remote classes allowed our faculty more time to alter their courses to make the remote experience a positive one; and,
  • This stabilizes course delivery for the semester, removing the possibility of making an abrupt change in course delivery, should pandemic conditions worsen.

This semester will be different from what any of us imagined for a college experience; however, we have persevered, and we will continue to do so.

An updated Student Code of Conduct stipulates that we will wear masks and maintain physical distance from each other. We all will take the CU Pledge, acknowledging that we must be responsible to each other and ourselves to keep our Clarion community as safe as possible.

While having a non-traditional college semester isn't ideal, our dedicated faculty and staff worked throughout the summer to make it as safe, positive and meaningful as possible. Services such as the library and student recreation center will be open; the wellness center and counseling will operate with tele-counseling services available. We offer tutoring and academic support as well. Most services will require that students contact offices ahead of time and make appointments.

Thank you to all who have worked so hard in the face of change. Students, take advantage of these resources to make the best of this challenging time. Visit our fall 2020 webpage for the latest information.

I look forward to seeing you, whether in person (with a mask on) or virtually! Let's make this a positive and productive semester. Thank you for committing to your safety and studies as we begin the 2020 school year.

Wings Up!

Dr. Dale
