2007 Dance Team Try Outs:

Try-outs are scheduled for April 24, 2007, 6:00 PM, in the Dance Studio on the second floor of Tippin Gymnasium. All spots on the team are open. In-coming freshmen are eligible to try-out. For next year, the team is anticipated to be comprised of up to 18 dancers. At the April try-out, you are responsible for accommodations and meals.

There will be a clinic held the two days before try outs (April 22-23) from 6-8 pm in Tippin Gym's Dance Studio.

Required skills for try-outs include:
BASIC SKILLS: 8 points per category
Double pirouette

Splits (right and left)

Grande jette (right and left)

Russian jump

Leap in second (right and left)
 

ADVANCED SKILLS:
Multiple pirouettes 10 points
Fouette turns 10 points
Axil turn 10 points
Switch leap (right and left) 15 points
Tilt leap (right and left) 15 points

DANCE STYLES:
Jazz
Pom
Funk
Lyrical
 

Dancers MUST maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA and must be on good academic standing.

We will be accepting video try-outs from potential students who currently are not enrolled at Clarion University. The video must exhibit each basic and advanced skill as well as a 45 second dance exhibiting a combination of either jazz and lyrical skills or pom and funk skills. Videos must be received by Tuesday, April 24, 2007, 4:00 PM.
