CLARION WRESTLERS HOST BUFFALO/DEL STATE ON WEDNESDAY
Clarion University’s NCAA Division I Wrestling team returns to action on Wednesday, January 2nd, when the Golden Eagles host the University at Buffalo and Delaware State at Tippin Gym. Actions begins at 1pm.

Clarion enters the dual meet with a record of 3-7 overall under second year head coach Teague Moore. The Golden Eagles have really toughened up their schedule with losses coming to #3 Iowa State (40-0) and #5 Oklahoma State (38-6). Other losses have been to Virginia (30-10), Lehigh (21-15), UPJ (27-14), Drexel (22-16) and Kent State (24-9). Wins have come against Sacred Heart (37-10), American International (56-0) and East Stroudsburg (29-15).
Leading the Golden Eagles will be co-captains Sal Lascari (Jr. Gray) at 141 and Hadley Harrison (So. McKean) at 149. Lascari is 8-5 and Harrison 10-4 this season.
Joining them in the lineup will be Jay Ivanco (Fr. Monroeville - 15-7) at 125, Rob LaBrake (So. N. Bennington, Vt. 3-7) at 133, Travis Uncapher (Fr. Grapeville - 10-4) at 157, Dave Cox (So. Orlando, Fl. - 8-6) at 165, Mario Morelli (So. DuBois - 5-9) at 174, Scott Joseph (So. Export - 3-11) at 184, either Jamie Luckett (Jr. St. Charles, Mo. 0-1) or Dixon Jordan (So. Cheverly, Md.) 4-10 at 197 and Roman Husam (Fr. Lewisburg - 3-9) at heavyweight.
Buffalo comes to Clarion with a strong 2-2-1 dual meet record under 13th year head coach Jim Beichner, a former Clarion All-America wrestler (1983-86). The Bulls have defeated Appalachian State (19-16) and Lehigh (22-9) and tied Bloomsburg 17-17. Losses have been to Michigan (35-6) and Eastern Michigan 21-12. Top wrestlers include Dana Gingerich (20-8; 149), Andrew Stella (17-9; 141), Mike Ragusa (17-6; 174), Mickey Moran (16-6; 184) Jimmy Hamel (15-8; 197) and Jeff Parker (15-8; hwt.)
Delaware State comes to Clarion with an 0-3-1 record under first year head coach Reggie Wright. The Hornets tied Wagner (22-22), and lost to Franklin and Marshall (24-9), American (36-10) and Boston University 36-6.
CLARION NOTES: Clarion has a 7-6 series lead over Buffalo .... The Bulls defeated Clarion at Buffalo last year 23-16 ... In last year’s dual Morelli defeated Ragusa 2-1 in tie breaker in the only match that appears to be a carryover from 2007... Clarion is 2-0 against Delaware State - defeating the Hornets 37-9 at Binghamton lst year... Clarion will host Davidson on January 9th at 5pm.
