BLOOMSBURG 22 CLARION 15
(Bloomsburg, Pa.): Clarion won four bouts on Friday night, including a pin by Jamie Luckett at 197, but it was not enough as Bloomsburg defeated the Golden Eagles 22-15.
Held at Nelson Field House, Clarion’s record fell to 8-10 overall and 0-3 in the EWL, while Bloomsburg raised its overall record to 4-6-1 and 1-3 in the EWL.
Clarion posted four wins on the night by Sal Lascari (Jr. Gray) at 141, Mario Morelli (So. DuBois) at 174, Scott Joseph (So. Export) at 184 and Jamie Luckett (Jr. St. Charles, Mo.) at 197.
Lascari used a second period escape and a third period takedown to defeat Darren Kern 3-1 at 141. It was Lascari’s first match back after missing the last 10-days with a leg injury.
Morelli meanwhile won a 3-2 decision over Brian Shaw at 174. Morelli also had a second period escape and a third period takedown to lead 3-0. Shaw reversed late but Morelli held on to win.
Scott Joseph then upset veteran Jesse Hasseman 5-4 at 184. With Hasseman up 2-0 in the second, Joseph used a duck under for a takedown to tie at 2-2. Down 3-2 in the third, Joseph escaped to tie, then got a takedown to lead 5-3 with about a minute to go. Hasseman escaped but the bout ended with Joseph on top 5-4.
Luckett stunned the partisan Bloomsburg crowd with his sudden death pin at 197 over Eric Shaw. Tied 1-1 into sudden death, Shaw chose down in the sudden death. Luckett tried a cradle, then pancaked Shaw and pinned him 16 seconds into sudden death.
Hadley Harrison was upset by George Hickman at 149 by a 6-3 score. Harrison led late in the first period 3-0 but had to take an injury time late and never seemed to recover.
Ivanco lost a 17-5 major to Mike Sees at 125, and Rob LaBrake led 2-0, but lost 12-2 to Jason Guffey at 133.
#19 ranked Matt Moley defeated Clarion’s Travis Uncapher 7-2 at 157, Rickey Schmelyun majored Dom Ross 11-3 at 165, and Mike Spaid majored Roman Husam at heavyweight by a 15-3 score.
