West Virginia Drops Clarion 37-6

            (Morgantown, WV):  An injury riddled Clarion University wrestling lineup yielded three forfeits to West Virginia on Sunday afternoon as the Mountaineers went on to win by a 37-6 final score.

            Clarion dropped to 0-11 on the season and 0-2 in the EWL, while West Virginia raised its overall record to 3-4 and its EWL mark to 2-0.

            Clarion got its two wins from Greg Lewis at 141-pounds and A.J. Brooks at heavyweight,

            Lewis had takedowns in the first and third periods, along with and escape and 1:43 riding time in defeating Teddy Adams 6-1.

            In the day’s final match, Brooks posted takedowns in the first, second and third periods in notching his second straight EWL win at heavyweight and a 7-5 decision over Matt Holsopple.

            West Virginia saw #20 ranked Seth Lisa defeat Rob LaBrake 9-0, #20 rated Dave Jauregui win 19-8 over Derrick Smith and #2 ranked Seth Lisa grab a technical fall, 21-6 at 7:00 over Lucas Christopher.

            Eric Mullen also decisioned Logan Downes 6-3 and Chance Litton won 6-2 over Dominic Ross to earn WVU’s other wins on the mat.

            Clarion was without Toby Seger at 125, T.J. McCance at 149, Chris Goings at 165, Dave Gardner at 174, Charlie Cilinski at 184 and Matt Wilcox at 197.

            Clarion will next be in action at the PSAC’s on Saturday, January 28th at Slippery Rock.
