Lawrenceville, N.J.:  Rider won eight of ten bouts on Saturday afternoon as the Broncs defeated visiting Clarion 30-6 in an NCAA Division I wrestling match.

Rider raised its record to 9-5-1, while Clarion dropped to 0-13 on the year.

Clarion posted two wins on the day and wrestled some other very close matches. Clarion freshman 141-pounder Greg Lewis notched a 7-4 decision over Mike Palma. Lewis locked up a cradle in the second period for a three-point near fall and a 4-2 lead. In the third he used an escape and takedown on his way to a 7-4 win. Lewis raised his record to 12-8.

At heavyweight freshman A.J. Brooks won a 4-2 decision over Peter Reid. Brooks had a second period escape and takedown to move ahead 3-0. In the third period, ahead 3-2, Brooks earned a stalling point for a 4-2 win. He now has a 9-15 season record.

Logan Downes lost a tough 6-5 decision at 165 to Chris Marold. Downes jumped ahead 4-0 in the first with a takedown and a two-point near fall. Marold reversals in the first and second period tied the match 4-4. Marold’s takedown with 17-seconds left gave the senior the win.

Clarion returns to action on February 7^th when the Eagles travel to Pitt. Match time is set for 7:30pm.
