(CLARION, PA): Clarion received decisions from Greg Lewis at 141 and A.J. Brooks at heavyweight, but Lock Haven won 8 of the 10 bouts and walked away with a 34-6 win over Clarion on Sunday afternoon at Waldo S. Tippin Gymnasium.

The dual meet was the final regular season action for Clarion as the Golden Eagles finish the season 0-17 overall and 0-6 in the EWL. Lock Haven ended 6-13 overall and 2-4 in the EWL.

Lewis, a true freshman, raised his season record to 14-10 with a 6-2 decision over Brian Ellis. Lewis used a first period hip toss to put Ellis to his back for a 4-point move and a 4-0 lead. A third period escape and riding time gave him a 6-2 win.

At heavyweight, Brooks has won 8 of his last 12 bouts including Sunday’s 4-1 win over Tim Meyers. After a scoreless first period, Brooks opened the second with an escape and a takedown for a 3-0 advantage. Brooks also accumulated 1:51 in riding time to post a final score of 4-1. Brooks, also a true freshman, has a season record of 12-16.

Chris Goings lost a tough 3-2 overtime decision to Jacob Lauffenburger. Tied at 2-2 in overtime, Goings locked out front of Lauffenburger for a “Cement Mixer” move. During the move he was called for an illegal move, which awarded a penalty point to Lauffenburger and the match.

Clarion will now compete at the Eastern Wrestling League Championships March 4-5 at Edinboro.
