CLARION 1-2 AT PENN STATE DUALS

            (State College, Pa): Clarion opened the 2005-06 season with a 1-2 record at the Pennsylvania State Dual Championships hosted at Penn State.

            Clarion opened the season with a 25-15 loss to York College, then lost its second match against Pitt-Johnstown 26-12. In the third match of the day Clarion toppled Williamson Trade 49-0.

            Juniors Dave Gardner and T. J. McCance were 3-0 on the day. Gardner’s first two wins came as pins came against York’s Steve Johnson (2:34) and UPJ’s Eli Garshnick (3:58). His third win was a forfeit.

            McCance decisioned Phil DeGaetano of York 3-1, Jay Matteo of UPJ 6-2 and Robert Hinderer 11-0 of Williamson.

            Freshmen Robert LaBrake, Nick Billups and Logan Downes were all 2-1 on the day.

            Clarion will next wrestle at the Ashland Open on Saturday, November 19^th.

            Penn State won the duals with a 3-0 record, including an 18-17 win in the finals over Lehigh.
