    Columbus, Ohio: Clarion posted a 3-1 record at the Buckeye Duals on Saturday, January 4, 2003 in an event held at St. John Arena. The Golden Eagles defeated Eastern Illinois 28-9 and Duke 34-11, before bowing to Indiana (Bloomington) 26-12. The Eagles came back in the final match to defeat UT Chattanooga 26-14 to finish 3-1 on Saturday and up their season record to 5-2.

     Rad Martinez at 133 and John Testa at heavyweight were 4-0 on the day. Testa notched two falls and a major decision out of his four wins, while Martinez had two majors.

    Frank Edgar at 141, Chris Horning at 157 and Eric Mausser at 197 were 3-1 on the day. Mausser, ranked 7th, lost a 6-2 decision at the buzzer to #11 ranked Pat DeGain of Indiana in his only loss. Mausser was in the top position in the tie breaker and tried to hold his top position in the final seconds but slipped off for the 6-2 loss. He bounced right back and pinned Drew Roberts of Chattanooga in 20 seconds, which is the third fastest fall in Clarion history. Jack Campbell had a 13-second fall in 1977, and Bryan Stout had an 18-second pin in 1996. Joe Rozanc also had a 20-sedcond pin in 1991.

    Clarion returns home next Saturday, January 11th, to host Buffalo at Tippin Gym. Match time is at 7pm.
