(BUFFALO, N.Y.): Clarion won 6 matches Saturday afternoon and defeated Buffalo by a 26-15 margin in an NCAA Division I Wrestling match at Alumni Arena.

The Golden Eagles received a pin from #9 ranked heavyweight John Testa, major decisions from #8 ranked Rad Martinez at 133 and Eric Mausser at 197, decisions from Todd Schuchert at 174 and Peter Derstine at 125, plus a win by disqualification at 157 for Jeremy Reitz to lead the way.

Clarion won four straight matches from 197 through 133 and opened up a big 20-9 lead that Buffalo could not surpass. Eric Mausser got the Eagles rolling with an 8-0 major decision Kyle Cerminara at 197. The win for Mausser raised his record to 20-6 this season.

Then at heavyweight #9 ranked John Testa pinned Mike Cooper at 2:17 to put Clarion ahead 13-9. Testa raised his season record to 20-5.

Clarion kept the ball rolling when lightweight Peter Derstine notched a 5-2 decision at 125 over Charlie Voorhees, then #8 ranked Rad Martinez posted a 17-6 major decision over Brian Sebaaly at 134 and Clarion was ahead 20-9. Martinez is now 19-2 this season.

The Bulls made a comeback with Ryan Bentley posting a 13-4 major decision over Stephen Stremple, and Bill Jacoutot decisioned Clarion’s Dom Surra 3-2 to narrow the Eagle margin to 20-16 with one match remaining.

Clarion’s Jeremy Reitz was ahead 5-3 late in his match with Dave Edwards when Edwards was disqualified for a flagrant violation. Reitz was awarded a disqualification win at 6:55 instead of a decision and Clarion posted a 26-15 victory. A team point was deducted following the disqualification.

Clarion raised its overall record to 3-8, while Buffalo dropped to 3-4 with the loss. Clarion will travel to Bloomsburg next Friday for a 7pm match, then travel on to Rider on Saturday for a 1pm start.
