FAST START HELPS CLARION WOMEN KNOCK OFF MANSFIELD 78-51
CLARION – The Clarion University women’s basketball team used a fast start to get a 78-51 victory over visiting Mansfield Saturday afternoon at Clarion’s Tippin Gym.
The Golden Eagles started the game on a 23-9 run and built the lead to 17, 39-22, at halftime.
Katrina Greer (Centre Hall) led the Golden Eagles with 22 points, while Jessica Albanese (Crescent Springs, KY) had a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Ashley Grimm (Sugarloaf) added nine points and seven assists, and Sara Pratt (Clinton, Ohio) had seven points and 11 rebounds.
Clarissa Correll led Mansfield with 14 points, while Brittany Reed chipped in with 11. Jeannette Meacham added nine rebounds, including eight offensive, and two points off the bench.
Clarion returns to action Sunday when it hosts Bloomsburg at 1 p.m. Mansfield is at IUP at 1 p.m. Sunday.
