GOLDEN EAGLES TOPPLE CHEYNEY
CLARION – The Clarion women’s basketball team used a 28-4 first-half run pull away from Cheyney 65-40 in PSAC Crossover basketball action Tuesday afternoon at Clarion University’s Tippin Gym.
The game was tied 4-4 in the early going when the Golden Eagles (3-4) went on their run to take a 32-8 lead late in the first half. Clarion led 39-14 at halftime and then built the lead to as many as 32 points in the second half.
A balanced effort paced Clarion, which has won two straight, offensively with all 11 players who participated scoring. Jessica Albanese led the way with 13 points and six rebounds, while April Gratton added 10 points, and four boards. My’Kea Cohill chipped in with eight points, seven rebounds and three assists off the bench, while Katrina Greer had nine points, four rebounds and four steals.
Ebony Twiggs led Cheyney (2-4) with seven points and eight rebounds, while Charnelle Taylor added seven points and four boards off the bench.
Clarion returns to action Thursday when it travels to NCAA Division I Youngstown State for a 7:05 p.m. contest.
