ALBANESE’S 17 NOT ENOUGH AS EAGLES FALL TO MANSFIELD

MANSFIELD – Jessica Albanese scored 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds but it wasn’t enough as Clarion fell 68-54 on the road at Mansfield.

The Golden Eagles (1-3) trailed by nine and halftime and by 16 with 12:52 to play before rallying to cut the deficit to three points with a 13-0 run that ended with a Sara Pratt layup with 7:49 to play cutting the Mansfield lead to 51-48.

But Clarion got just one more field goal the rest of the way allowing Mansfield (4-0) to end the game on a 17-6 run.

Jessica Uhrich was unstoppable for the Mounties scoring a game-high 27 points while grabbing 16 rebounds. Mallory Hafer added 11 tallies and Emily Akins 10.

Clarion got nine points from Katrina Greer and eight from April Gratton off the bench, while Pratt had eight rebounds. Ashley Grimm had five assists and four steals for the Golden Eagles, who return to action at 1 p.m. Sunday at Bloomsburg.
