BALANCED ATTACK HELPS GOLDEN EAGLES BREAK 10-GAME SLIDE

CLARION – Edinboro used a 5-0 run in the final 30 seconds to get a 55-50 win over Clarion Monday night at Clarion’s Tippin Gym.

 

The Golden Eagles (6-13 overall, 1-4 PSAC-West) had rallied from a 10-point halftime deficit – 30-20 – to take a three-point lead 44-41 – following a Sara Pratt jumper with 5:32 to play. But Edinboro answered with a 6-0 run to go ahead 47-44 on a Kelsey Conklin lay-up before Clarion tied the game at 50 on a Jessica Albanese lay-up with 1:07 to play.

 

Kelly Calderone, who scored a game-high 22 points, gave Edinboro the lead for good on a driving lay-up with 30 seconds left and then Sam Reimer hit three of four free throws in the final 16.9 seconds to seal the win.

 

Prior to Reimer’s final two charity shots at the 3.5 second mark, Clarion’s My’Kea Cohill, the team’s best three-point shooter percentage wise, had a open look from the top of the circle that was just off.

 

 

Albanese led Clarion with 12 points and seven rebounds, while April Gratton chipped in 11 points iincluding 7 of 8 from the free-throw line. Pratt had a career-high eight points off the bench while adding four rebounds.

 

Conklin chipped in nine points for Edinboro, while Reimer and Rae Sherred each had 22.
