EAGLES DROP FOURTH STRAIGHT 68-48 AT LOCK HAVEN
LOCK HAVEN – My’Kea Cohill’s 20 points weren’t enough to break Clarion’s 3-game losing streak, as the Golden Eagles suffered their fourth loss in a row 68-48 Wednesday night at Lock Haven.
Cohill provided pretty much all of the Golden Eagles offense hitting eight of the 17 shots the Golden Eagles (6-12 overall, 1-3 PSAC-West) made on the night before fouling out with 4:31 to play and Clarion down 10.
Without the junior in the game, Lock Haven (9-9, 2-2) ended the contest on a 14-4 run to pull away. The Bald Eagles had used a 12-0 run earlier in the second half to break a 39-39 tie and take a 51-39 lead with 6:35 left.
Lock Haven led 25-24 at halftime before Clarion rallied to take a 33-30 lead on a Jessica Albanese bucket with 4:04 into the second half. But Lock Haven’s Ilia Lopez tied the game with a three-pointer moments later, and Clarion never led again.
Albanese added 10 points, five rebounds for Clarion, while Katrina Greer chipped in with seven points and five boards but was just 1-for-5 from the floor.
As a team, Clarion shot 36.2 percent for the game (17 of 47) including 8 of 26 (30.8 percent) in the second half. The Golden Eagles were also 0-for-9 from three-point range and 14 of 24 from the free-throw line while turning the ball over 28 times.
Ginger Williams led Lock Haven with 22 points, 13 rebounds, and Lopez chipped in with 18 points. The Bald Eagles shot 36.7 percent from the floor in the game but were also 21 of 28 from the free-throw line while outrebounding Clarion 44-33.
Clarion returns to action Monday when it hosts Edinboro at 6 p.m.
