GOLDEN EAGLES WIN THIRD STRAIGHT 74-49 AT MILLERSVILLE

            MILLERSVILLE – My’Kea Cohill and Jessica Albanese combined to score 33 points to lead visiting Clarion to a 74-49 win over Millersville Saturday afternoon.

            Cohill poured in a game-high 17 points to go with five assists, while Albanese added 16 points and six rebounds.

            Clarion (6-8) made sure it didn’t suffer a let down after its upset over California Wednesday by running out to an 18-4 lead on the Marauders (8-6).

            The Golden Eagles used that fast start to hold a 37-23 halftime lead. Clarion then used runs of 8-3 and 15-1 in the second half to build the advantage to 29 – 64-35 – with 6:31 to play.

            April Gratton added 11 points, seven rebounds and four assists for Clarion, while Ashley Grimm had two points, eight assists and four rebounds. Bethany Koch chipped in with seven points off the bench.

            Ashley Romanoski was the lone Millersville player in double figures with 12 points and eight rebounds.

            Clarion shot a scorching 53.1 percent from the field while Millersville connected on just 25.9 percent of its shots.

            The Golden Eagles continue to eastern swing at 1 p.m. Sunday at West Chester before returning home at 6 p.m. Wednesday to host IUP in a PSAC-West match-up.

            NOTES – The 74 points were a season high for Clarion … The last time the Golden Eagles scored at least 74 points was in an 86-75 loss to IUP Feb. 4, 2006. The last time Clarion had at least 74 points in a win was Jan. 8, 2006, in a 91-75 win at West Chester … The 3-game win streak is a season best for the Golden Eagles … Last season Clarion won four straight once.
