GOLDEN EAGLES GREER NAMED TO PSAC-WEST SECOND TEAM |

Clarion University sophomore guard Katrina Greer (Centre Hall/Penns Valley) is a second-team PSAC-West women’s basketball selection in a voting by the league’s coaches. “I’m very happy for Katrina,” Clarion head coach Gie Parsons said. “She has worked very hard on her game and played well for us this season. She is very deserving of this award.” Greer was Clarion’s leading scorer during the PSAC-West season averaging 13.9 ppg, and she was the Golden Eagles second-leading scorer on the season at 12.7 ppg, which ranked 16th in the PSAC. Greer also ranked seventh in the PSAC in free-throw shooting hitting 81.1 percent (103 of 127) of her charity shots, the fifth best mark in school history. She also knocked down a team-high 30 3-pointers while also dishing out 35 assists, coming up with 38 steals and averaging 3.4 rebounds per game. Greer had a career-high 23 points at West Chester Jan. 14, while adding 21 vs. Shippensburg Feb. 10 and a career0high 12 rebounds vs. IUP Jan. 17. She scored 15 or more points nine times this season. In her two-year career, Greer has 624 points, 198 rebounds, 77 assists and 85 steals while hitting 49 3-pointers and shooting 80.4 percent (205 of 255) from the free-throw line. Her career free-throw percentage currently ranks third in school history. GOLDEN EAGLE NOTES – This is the eighth straight year Clarion has had a player selected All-PSAC-West. Last season Jessica Albanese and Melba Melton were second-team selections. Clarion’s last first-team selections were Heather Cigich and Shay Godwin in 2005 … The Golden Eagles went 9-16 this season including 4-8 in the PSAC-West … Parsons is the winningest coach in school history with a record of 270-228 in 18 seasons. She has led Clarion to six NCAA D-II Tournaments (1991-1995, 2005), five PSAC-West crowns (1991-95), three PSAC Titles (1991, 1992-93) and two “Elite Eight” appearances (1991, 1994) while being named PSAC-West “Coach of the Year” in 1991, 1992 and 2005, the 2005 Russell/WBCA Region 2 “Coach of the Year” and the 1991 Converse District 2 “Coach of the Year”. |
