GOLDEN EAGLES GREER NAMED PSAC-WEST PLAYER OF THE WEEK |

Katrina Greer, a sophomore guard for the Clarion University, is the PSAC-West women’s basketball Player of the Week for the week ending with games Jan. 14. Greer (Centre Hall/Penns Valley) helped the Golden Eagles go 2-1 on the week including a 69-58 win over California Wednesday that snapped the Vulcans 20-game PSAC-West win streak (they had won 23 in a row vs. PSAC-West opponents). She had 18 points on 5-for-9 shooting and 8 of 11 from the free-throw line vs. Cal and then followed that up with a career-high 23 points including a career-best seven three-pointers at West Chester Sunday. In between, Greer added nine points vs. Millersville. On the season, Greer is averaging 12.1 ppg for the Golden Eagles, who are 6-9. She has picked her game up since New Year’s averaging 16.0 ppg in Clarion’s last seven games including 17.0 in the last four. GOLDEN EAGLES NOTES – Clarion has won 3 of 4 and returns to action Wednesday when it hosts IUP at 6 p.m. That game can be heard locally in Clarion on WCUC-FM, 91.7 FM and on the internet at www.redzonemedia.com … Greer is the second Golden Eagle to earn Player of the Week honors this season.
