LAST CLARION GAME: Dec. 1 – Clarion 89, Tiffin 54: Clarion put the game away early starting the game on 17-0 run and never looking back. Heather Cigich led the Golden Eagles with 19 points, 15 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals; Shay Godwin added 16 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks.
LAST BLOOMSBURG GAME: Dec. 2 – Virginia Union 76, Bloomsburg 50: Bloom trailed 44-20 at halftime, as VU used a 26-2 run in the first half to build the lead. Gabrielle Miskinis led the Huskies with 13 points, 5 assists, while Tiffany Metzler added 12 points.
CLARION NOTES: Clarion is 5-1 for the first time since the 1993-94 season when Clarion started 9-1 on its way to a 26-4 record a trip to the NCAA D-II “Elite Eight” … In addition to returning starters Heather Cigich (16.5 ppg, 10.3 rpg), Shay Godwin (14.3 ppg, 7.2 rpg) and Amelia Harris (12.5 ppg) three newcomers have contributed heavily including freshman point guard Ashley Grimm (6.7 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 5.8 apg), freshman forward Jessica Albanese (8.3 ppg, 5.5 rpg) and junior guard Melba Melton (11.8 ppg, 5.5 apg).

LAST 10 MEETINGS BETWEEN THE TEAMS (Dating back to 1995-96): Bloom leads 9-1 (Bloom W-8)
LAST MEETING: Jan. 11, 2004 at Bloomsburg: Bloomsburg 82, Clarion 81, OT – Dominque Deveaux’s 3-pointer with 2 seconds left in OT lifted the Huskies to the win. Clarion led 81-79 after Tiffany Peacock hit one of two free throws with 11 seconds left in OT. The Eagles held a 67-62 lead with 5:21 left in regulation before Bloomsburg went on a 10-3 run taking a 72-70 lead on a Deveaux three with 39 seconds left. Heather Cigich forced the OT when she scored a bucket with just seven seconds remaining. Cigich led Clarion with 31 points, 13 rebounds, while Amelia Harris added 22 points, 6 rebounds. Michelle Albanese led Bloom with 30 points, 6 assists, while Deveaux had 18 points.
LAST MEETING AT CLARION: Dec. 22, 2002: Bloomsburg 82, Clarion 69 – The Huskies led 50-31 at halftime. – Cigich led Clarion with 20 points, 5 rebounds; Harris added 15 points. Four Huskies were in double digits led by Meggi Rothermel’s 19 points, Meaghan Roe’s 17 and Jen Bryan’s 16 points, 10 rebounds.
LAST CLARION WIN: Feb. 12, 1996 – Clarion 84, Bloomsburg 74 – At Clarion – Bloom led 39-30 at halftime but Clarion outscored the Huskies 54-35 in the second half. Mona Gaffney led Clarion with 34 points, 11 rebounds. Kim Stamm led Bloom with 27 points, 11 boards.
WHAT’S LIES AHEAD
FOR CLARION: The Golden Eagles are off until Dec. 21 at Millersville and Dec. 22 at Cheyney in PSAC Crossover action. Clarion then goes out west to the Grand Canyon (AZ) Classic to play Grand Canyon Dec. 29 and Fort Lewis Dec. 31 before retuning to Tippin Gym against Kutztown (Jan. 8) and West Chester (Jan. 9)
