CLARION LOOKING TO CLINCH HOME PLAYOFF GAME

A win over Edinboro or a Shippensburg loss at home to California tonight and Clarion will clinch at least second place in the PSAC-West and a home playoff game … It would be the Golden Eagles first home playoff game since 1992.

EAGLES COULD STILL CLAIM TIE FOR PSAC-WEST

Despite the loss at California Saturday, Clarion still has a shot to get at least a tie of the PSAC-West crown … If the Golden Eagles win their remaining two games and Cal loses either tonight at Shippensburg or Saturday to Lock Haven, then Clarion would be co-champions … The Golden Eagles are looking for their first PSAC-West title since 1995, which was the last of five straight Western Division championships for Clarion.

CIGICH MOVES INTO 2ND IN REBOUNDING

With four rebounds against California Saturday, Heather Cigich has moved into second place in school history in rebounding with 1,081 … She passes Mona Gaffney (1,079) … Carlita Jones is the all-time leading rebounder (1,258) … Cigich also ranks 4th in school history with 1,738 points, eighth in assists with 233, fifth in steals 238 and third in blocks (80). She is the third player in school history with 1,000 career points and 1,000 career rebounds joining Gaffney and Jones.

MELTON & GRIMM 2ND TANDEM OVER 100 ASSISTS

Jr. Melba Melton (126) and Fr. Ashley Grimm (102) have both have handed out 100 assists this year marking just the 2nd time in school history two players have each record 100 assists in the same season …Shannon Coakley (131) and Amy Migyanka (123) turned the feat in 1994 … Melton is 4th all-time in assists in a season at Clarion.

RECENT CLARION-EDINBORO SERIES HISTORY

Clarion, who has won two straight from Edinboro for the first time since 1997, is looking for its first sweep of Edinboro since the 1994 season … It would be Clarion’s first 3-game win streak since March 6, 1993 to Feb. 9, 1994 … The teams have split the season series the last three years and in seven of the last nine years. Edinboro swept Clarion in 2001 and 1998 … The teams twice met in the postseason in the early 1990’s with Clarion getting a 104-81 win in the 1993 PSAC Title game, and the Eagles winning 85-70 in the NCAA’s in 1992 … Clarion head coach Gie Parsons is 16-17 in her career at Clarion against Edinboro … Edinboro head coach Stan Swank is 19-18 all-time vs. the Eagles.
