CIGICH PSAC-WEST “PLAYER OF THE WEEK”

·        Senior forward Heather Cigich was the PSAC-West Player of the Week last week after leading Clarion to a 3-0 week by averaging 20.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.0 steals per game while shooting 66 percent (23 of 35) from the floor and 94 percent (16 of 17 from the free-throw line. She came off the bench in all three games. 

·        Season-high 28 points in a 62-54 win at Shippensburg Wednesday.

·        19 points, 5 rebounds while shooting 7 of 8 in 90-63 win at Mansfield Saturday

·        15 points, 8 rebounds in 84-51 win at East Stroudsburg Sunday

CIGICH NEARS 1,000 CAREER REBOUNDS

·        Cigich is only 15 rebounds – She had 985 –  shy of becoming just the third player in school history to record 1,000 rebounds in a career … She would join Carlita Jones (1,258) and Mona Gaffney (1,079) in the exclusive 1,000-rebound club … Cigich ranks third in rebounds at Clarion …

·        She is also fourth in school history in scoring with 1,591 points and needs nine points to become just the fourth player with 1,600 career points – Jones (1,948), Gaffney (1,920) and Shannon Coakley (1,812) are the others. 

PARSONS ONE WIN SHY OF 350

·        Clarion’s 16^th year head coach Margaret “Gie” Parsons is just one win shy of 350 in her career. Parsons is 346-269 in her 23^rd season as a head coach – including 8 at Thiel – including a 239-193 mark at Clarion.

CLARION-LOCK HAVEN SERIES

·        Clarion has won nine straight game against Lock Haven dating back to the 1999-2000 season … Lock Haven’s last win was a 69-61 win Jan. 19, 2000, at Clarion … Despite Clarion’s recent advantage in the series, the games have been close with six of the last seven decided by eight points or less … Last year Clarion won 71-56 at Clarion Jan. 28 behind 20 points, 15 rebounds from Shay Godwin and 19 points, 13 rebounds from Cigich. Lock Haven got 14 tallies from Elizabeth Gabrielle and 12 from Amanda Jones … In the Feb. 21 game at Lock Haven, the Golden Eagles won 68-62 behind 21 points from Amelia Harris, 19 points, 15 rebounds from Cigich and 19 points, 7 boards from Godwin … Allison Hall led Lock Haven with 16 points off the bench, Melissa Picarsic added 15 points, six rebounds and Gabrielle 13 points.
