CLARION FIRING ON ALL CYLINDERS IN 86-41 WIN OVER KUTZTOWN SATURDAY
· Clarion’s 86-41 win over Kutztown yesterday marked the largest victory against a fellow NCAA Division II opponent since the Eagles toppled Cheyney 81-31 in the 1994-95 season.
· Shay Godwin’s 20 rebounds in the win were a career-high. With 18 points she recorded her third double-double of the season and her third 18-point game in the last four Clarion contests.
· Freshman Jessica Albanese also got her third double-double of the season with 12 points, 11 rebounds in her second consecutive start in place of Heather Cigich. Cigich, who lead’s Clarion with 16.2 ppg and 10.3 rpg is expected to return to the lineup today.
· Tiffany Peacock’s 18 points were a season high, while the 10 assists handed out by Ashley Grimm were the second most in her young career behind the 11 she dished out against West Virginia Tech Nov. 19.
CLARION SET FOR PSAC-WEST PLAY
· Clarion will start PSAC-West at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Shippensburg. The game means that the last three games vs. PSAC-West foes for the Golden Eagles will all have been played at Shippensburg including the regular-season finale (W 66-62) last year and the opening round of the PSAC Playoffs (L - 65-36) a year ago.
PARSONS FIVE WINS SHY OF 350
· Clarion head coach Gie Parsons is five wins shy of 350 in her career. Parsons is 345-269 in her 23rd season as a head coach including a 235-193 mark her 16th season at Clarion, the winningest coach in Clarion history.
HIGH SCORING GAMES A NORM FOR EAGLES
· High scoring contests are normal this season for Clarion. The Golden Eagles are averaging 74.6 ppg while allowing 63.5. Clarion is hitting 46.9 percent of its shots from the floor.
CLARION-WEST CHESTER SERIES
· Clarion and West Chester have met seven times since 1996-97 with West Chester winning five of the meetings. The teams have split the last four with Clarion winning in 2000-01 and 2002-03 at Clarion and West Chester winning in 2001-02 and last year at West Chester. In last season’s game, Clarion led 30-28 at halftime only to watch West Chester rally in the second half for a 58-55 win Jan. 3. Shay Godwin led Clarion with 18 points, 9 rebounds, while Heather Cigich added 14 points, eight rebounds, five steals. Kiesha Mack led all scorers with 28 points for West Chester. · Four years and two days ago (Jan. 7, 2001) the two teams met in one of the more exciting games in the history of Tippin Gym with Clarion prevailing with a 112-108 double overtime win. West Chester led 48-47 at halftime but Clarion tied the game at 90 at the end of regulation. The contest was then deadlocked at 98 at the end of the first over time before Clarion won the second overtime 14-10. Five Golden Eagles reached double figures led by 34 points, 12 rebounds from CJ Lantz. Tameka Washington added 23 points, Courtney Willman 11 points, 15 rebounds, Allison Stodart 17 points including five three’s and Tiffany Taylor 10 points, 11 assists, 7 rebounds. Kiera Manlove paced West Chester with 29 points, 11 boards, Hallie Roulin added 20 points, 15 rebounds, Kiesha Mack had 15 points as did Amy Buda.
