Clarion University senior forward Heather Cigich is a 2005 Daktronics Second-team East Region selection. Cigich concluded a stellar four-year career by averaging 17.0 ppg, 9.7 rpg, 2.92 apg and 2.25 spg this season. She ranked third in the PSAC in scoring, fourth in rebounding, second in shooting percentage (56.0 percent) and 10th in steals per game while being named first-team PSAC-West for the third straight year and all-PSAC for the fourth consecutive season. Heather finished her Clarion career averaging a school record 17.0 points per game while ranking third in school history in scoring (1,832 points), second in rebounds (1,121), third in blocked shots (82), fifth in steals (250) and tied for seventh in assists. Her 76.2 percent career free-throw mark (409 of 537) ranks fourth all-time in school history. This season, Cigich helped lead Clarion to a 23-7 overall mark and a 10-2 record in the PSAC-West including a win over defending national champion California. The Golden Eagles reached the PSAC Semifinals for the first time since 1995 while also qualifying for the NCAA Division II playoffs for the first time since 1995. Along the way, Heather recorded 11 double-doubles including a season-high 30 points Feb. 23 at Edinboro and a season-best 20 rebounds Dec. 22 at Cheyney. In all, she had four games of 15 or more rebounds and 11 games of 20 or more points while being named PSAC-West Player of the Week three times. In 2004, Cigich was a third team Daktronics All-America, an Honorable Mention WBCA/Kodak All-America and an Honorable Mention DII Bulletin All-America. Career highs for Cigich include 21 rebounds against IUP in 2003-04 and 37 points in 2002-03 vs. IUP, the third most points in a game in school history. |
