CLARION’S CIGICH NAMED PSAC-WEST CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK

                      Clarion University senior forward Heather Cigich (Johnstown/Conemaugh Twp.) is the PSAC-West Co-Player of the Week for the week ending with games Feb. 26.

            It is the third time this season Cigich has earned the award.

            During the week, Cigich posted her sixth career 30-point game in a win against Edinboro Wednesday finishing with 30 points, 12 rebounds and three assists. She added another impressive performance in a win versus IUP Saturday registering 22 points, pulling down nine boards, getting six steals and handing out four assists.

            Cigich finished the regular season as the top scorer in the PSAC (17.4 ppg) and the No. 3 rebounder (10.1 rpg). She also ranks second in field goal percentage (56.5 percent), tied for seventh in steals (2.32 spg) and 15th in assists (3.12 apg).

            The fourth leading scorer (1,790 points) and second leading rebounder (1,102) in school history, Cigich has picked up her game in recent weeks recording five double-doubles in her last eight games while averaging 19.9 ppg, 11.6 rpg, 3.38 apg and 2.63 spg.

            In addition to her scoring and rebounding, she ranks third in school history in blocks (81), eighth in assists (240) and fifth in steals (245).

            Clarion is 22-5 overall on the season and finished 10-2 in the PSAC-West good for second place. The Golden Eagles host Shippensburg at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the opening round of the PSAC Playoffs.
