CLARION’S CIGICH REACHES 1,000 CAREER REBOUND MARK

Third Player in Clarion history, 14th in PSAC History to accomplish feat

            With nine rebounds in Clarion’s 87-51 win at Slippery Rock Wednesday, Clarion University senior forward Heather Cigich (Johnstown/Conemaugh Twp.) became the third player in Clarion history and the 14th in PSAC history to record 1,000 career rebounds.

            Cigich now has 1,001 career boards and ranks third in school history behind Carlita Jones (1,258) and Mona Gaffney (1,079).

            “Heather is joining an elite group of phenomenal rebounders at Clarion,” Clarion’s 16th year head coach “Gie” Parsons said. “She has worked very hard in her four years here, and we are very happy for her.”

            Cigich also ranks fourth in school history in points with 1,617 and is fourth in steals (220) and third in blocked shots (77).

            She was a third-team Daktronics All-American, an Honorable Mention Kodak/WBCA All-American, an Honorable Mention DII Bulletin All-American, a first-team all-region selection and a first-team PSAC-West selection last season.

            Cigich is the daughter of Loren and Tracy Stahl and Barry Cigich.
