CLARION’S GODWIN PSAC-WEST CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK GOLDEN EAGLES GRIMM PSAC-WEST ROOKIE OF THE WEEK |

Clarion University senior forward Shay Godwin is the PSAC-West Co-women’s basketball Player of the Week, and the Golden Eagles freshman guard Ashley Grim is the PSAC-West Rookie of the Week for the week ending with games Jan. 22. Godwin (Dayton, Ohio/Colonel White) had a strong effort in all facets of the game in Clarion’s 86-55 win over Lock Haven Wednesday. She registered 26 points, nine rebounds, four assists, three blocks and three steals while connecting on 12 of 16 (80 percent) of her field goals. Grimm (Sugarloaf/Hazelton) also had a solid game against Lock Haven scoring all 12 of her points from the 3-point line while going 4 of 6 (67 percent) from behind the arc. She helped in other areas as well dishing out six assists, pulling down seven rebounds and tallying five steals. Godwin and Grimm have helped Clarion to a 14-3 record and a 2-0 mark in the PSAC-West. The Golden Eagles are 14-3 for the first time since the 1993-94 season. Godwin is second on the team and fifth in the PSAC in scoring (15.3 ppg) and leads the team while ranking second in the PSAC in rebounding (10.3 rpg). Grimm is adding 5.6 ppg and 3.8 rpg and is second on the team and sixth in the PSAC in assists with 4.59 apg. She has also added 35 steals. This is the second PSAC-West Player of the Week award for Godwin and the second PSAC-West Rookie of the Week award for Grimm. Clarion returns to action at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Slippery Rock. Dani Mills of California shared the Player of the Week award with Godwin. |
