GOLDEN EAGLES CIGICH NAMED PRE-SEASON HONORABLE MENTION ALL-AMERICAN BY "WOMEN’S DIVISION II BULLETIN"

Heather Cigich (Johnstown/Conemaugh Twp.), a junior forward for the Clarion University women’s basketball team, is a Honorable Mention Pre-season All-American selection by the "Women’s Division II Bulletin".

Last season Cigich led Clarion and ranked third in the PSAC in both scoring and rebounding averaging 18.6 ppg and 10.4 rpg while being named first team PSAC-West.

In her career, she has scored 814 points and grabbed 522 rebounds and was a second-team PSAC-West selection as a freshman. She ranks 20th in school history in scoring and 14th in school history in rebounding and needs 186 point to move into the to 10 in school history in scoring and 60 rebounds to move into the top 10 in school history in rebounding.

Her 502 points last season were the sixth most in a single-season in Clarion history, while her 281 rebounds were seventh most in a season. In 2002-03 she recorded 15 double-doubles and had 25 double-digit scoring games while helping the Golden Eagles to a 15-12 finish. She scored a career-high 37 points while pulling down a career-high 18 rebounds against IUP Jan. 25. The 37 points were the third most points in a single game in school history.

GOLDEN EAGLE NOTES: Clarion opens the 2003-04 season Nov. 15 when it hosts Ashland ... The Golden Eagles need to replace four starters from last year’s team that finished with the best record since the 1995 team went 18-11 ... Two other PSAC players were named All-American by the "Women’s Division II Bulletin" ... California’s Becky Siembak was a Super 16 Selection while Cal’s Sara McKinney was an Honorable Mention Selection.
