Clarion University junior forward Heather Cigich (Johnstown/Conemaugh Twp.) is the first PSAC-West women’s basketball "Player of the Week" for the 2003-04 season.

Cigich helped the Golden Eagles to a 3-0 start (through Nov. 24) including wins over Ashland, Queens (NY) and national-ranked West Liberty St.

In the three games, Cigich averaged 20.7 points, 14.7 rebounds, 4.3 steals and 3.3 assists per game. Her top effort game in an 89-81 win over West Liberty, which was ranked 15^th in the nation by the Division II Bulletin, when she had 31 points, 14 rebounds, five assists and three steals.

For the season, she is shooting 56.4 percent (22-39) from the floor and 81 percent (17-21) from the free-throw line.

Clarion returns to action Tuesday (Nov. 25) when it travels to Pitt-Johnstown. The Golden Eagles host Impact Basketball in an exhibition game at Tippin Gym Sunday before returning to regular-season action Dec. 6 when they host Mansfield at 1 p.m.

NOTES: Cigich was a preseason Honorable Mention All-American by the D-II Bulletin as well as a first-team preseason PSAC-West choice ... She was a first-team PSAC-West selection as a sophomore and a second-team PSAC-West selection as a freshman ... In two years plus three games Cigich has 876 points and 566 rebounds. She ranks 14^th in school history in scoring and 12^th in rebounding.
