CLARION’S CIGICH NAMED PSAC-WEST PLAYER OF THE WEEK FOR THE FOURTH TIME IN 2003-04
Heather Cigich (Johnstown/Conemaugh Twp.), a junior forward for the Clarion University women’s basketball team, has been named the PSAC-West Player of the Week for the week ending with games Jan. 11
It is the fourth time (in six opportunities) this year that Cigich has been named the PSAC-West Player of the Week. Last week she averaged a double-double with 28.5 ppg and 10.0 rpg while shooting 60.5 percent from the floor for the week.
She scored a game-high 31 points in an 82-81 overtime loss at Bloomsburg Sunday whole adding 13 rebounds, two assists, a block and three steals. In a 95-48 win over East Stroudsburg Saturday she record a game-high 26 points to go along with seven rebounds, three assists, two blocks and a steal.
In her career, Cigich now ranks sixth in school history in both scoring (1,096 points) and rebounding (688). This season she leads the PSAC in scoring (20.1 ppg) and is second behind teammate Shay Godwin in rebounding (11.9 rpg).
The Golden Eagles are 8-6 on the season and open PSAC-West play Wednesday when they host California at 6 p.m.
