CLARION’S CIGICH NAMED PSAC-WEST PLAYER OF THE WEEK |

For the second straight week and for the sixth time this season, Clarion University junior forward Heather Cigich (Johnstown/Conemaugh Twp.) is the PSAC-West women’s basketball Player of the Week. Cigich had a monster week for the Golden Eagles averaging 28.0 ppg and 13.5 rpg while helping Clarion (15-11 overall, 7-5 PSAC-West) clinch a tie for second place in the PSAC-West with wins over Edinboro and Shippensburg. She tallied 31 points, 17 rebounds and three blocks in a 78-62 win over Edinboro Wednesday and followed that up with 25 points, 10 rebounds, two blocks and two steals in a 66-62 win at Shippensburg Saturday. Cigich leads the PSAC in both scoring (20.5 ppg) and rebounding (12.3 rpg) and is second in steals (3.19 spg). She also is averaging 2.6 apg and 1.1 bpg this season. She is the fifth leading scorer in school history (1,346), third leading rebounder (842), third leading shot blocker (61) and seventh in steals (186). GOLDEN EAGLES NOTES – Clarion returns to action Tuesday in the PSAC Playoffs at 7 p.m. at Shippensburg … Cigich was also the Player of the Week Feb. 23, Jan. 12, Dec. 21, Dec. 8 and Nov. 25 … Overall, Clarion has had seven players of the week this year with Shay Godwin winning the award Feb. 2. |
