RECENT CLARION-SRU SERIES HISTORY: Clarion has won eighth straight games against Lock Haven dating back to the 1999-2000 season … Lock Haven’s last win was a 69-61 victory Jan. 19, 2000, at Clarion … Clarion has won four straight at Thomas Fieldhouse last losing 77-68 Jan. 13, 1999 … Despite Clarion’s recent advantage in the series, the games have been close with five of the last six decided by eight points or less … Clarion is 19-12 all-time against Lock Haven under head coach Gie Parsons, while Lock Haven’s Britt King is 0-3 against Clarion … In the early 1990’s, the teams had some epic PSAC battles cumulating in the programs meeting four times during the 1990-91 season … Lock haven won the two regular-season games by scores of 93-83 and 86-74, but Clarion came back to win the PSAC title game 87-71 for its first of three PSAC titles in four years. The Golden Eagles then won 77-70 in the NCAA D-II quarterfinals to advance to their first-ever “Elite Eight”.

CLARION LEADERS: Heather Cigich – 19.9 ppg, 12.1 rpg, 3.2 spg, 2.7 apg, 22 blocks – Ranks 1st in PSAC in points & rebounds, 4th in the nation in rebounding & 17th in the nation in scoring … Also ranks 2nd in PSAC in steals and 7th in blocks; Shay Godwin – 15.4 ppg, 11.8 rpg, 16 blocks – Ranks 6th in PSAC in scoring, 2nd in rebounding & 6th in the nation in rebounding; Amelia Harris – 11.7 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 2.7 apg; Tiffany Peacock – 11.5 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 2.4 apg, 1.3 spg.

GAME NOTES: Clarion is right in the thick of the PSAC playoff race and is currently tied with Slippery Rock for the fourth and final playoff berth awarded to the PSAC-West … The Golden Eagles could easily finish anywhere from second to fifth in the division with second place earning a home playoff game and fifth place being out of the playoffs … Clarion finishes the season by playing two of the three teams ahead of it including a date Wednesday with third place Edinboro (18-7, 6-4 PSAC-West) and a game next Saturday with second place Shippensburg (16-8, 6-3).

CLARION NOTES: Clarion has won two in a row for the first time since winning three in a row in mid-December … Defense has been the key in the Golden Eagles last two wins, as they have given up a combined total of 81 points or 14 less than they gave up in their last loss (95-39 to California Feb. 11) ..  In fact in Clarion’s 12 wins the Golden Eagles are allowing just 53.3 ppg while in the 11 loses they are allowing 76.5 ppg … Heather Cigich continues to make her mark on the Clarion record book … She is now 5th in school history in points (1,271) and rebounds (800) and needs nine rebounds to move into a tie for fourth with Cheryl Bansek … She also ranks 7th in school history with 179 steals and 3rd with 55 blocks … Her 457 points this season ranks 10th in a single-season (She needs 7 points for 9th and 21 for 8th) while her 278 rebounds is 9th (She needs 3 for 8th & 11 to tie for 6th). Also her 76 steals this season rank tied for 8th in a single season and with 3 more she will move into a tie for 4th … Four more steals would make her the fourth player in school history with 80 in a season.
