CLARION MEN & WOMEN BOTH RANKED IN NCAA EAST REGION TOP 10
Both the Clarion University men’s and women’s basketball teams are ranked in the Top 10 of the NCAA Division II East Region Poll that was released Jan. 22.
The Golden Eagle women make their first appearance in the poll this season at No. 6 in the East Region, while the men are ranked No. 9.
Clarion’s women’s team is 10-6 overall and 0-1 in the PSAC-West entering Wednesday’s home game with Slippery Rock. The Golden Eagles, winners of five of their past six games, have an 8-2 Regional record.
The Golden Eagles’ men’s team, which was ranked No. 6 in the previous East Region poll, dropped to No. 9 despite going 3-1 over the last two weeks with the lone loss an overtime decision at Cheyney. Clarion is 12-3 overall and 1-0 PSAC-West entering its game Wednesday with Slippery Rock.
NOTES: Glenville St. is the top ranked team in the women’s poll, while West Chester is No. 1 in the men’s poll ... Clarion, West Chester and Pfeiffer are the only schools in the East Region to have both their men’s and women’s teams ranked ... West Chester’s women are 10th, Pfeiffer’s men are 7th and its women are 3rd ... At the end of the season the top eight teams in the East Region will move into the NCAA Division II playoffs.
