CLARION TO HONOR NINE ON SENIOR DAY

The Clarion University men’s and women’s basketball teams will combine to honor nine players on Senior Day when the Golden Eagles take on Lock Haven in a PSAC-West doubleheader Sunday at Tippin Gym. The women’s game starts at 1 p.m. followed by the men’s game at 3 p.m.

WOMEN’S TEAM HONORING FOUR PLAYERS

The Golden Eagles women’s team is honoring four players: Jen Duhnke, Allison Stodart, Tameka Washington and Allison Stodart. A short bio on each player appears below.

JEN DUHNKE

Daughter of Dale & Mary Duhnke—Sports Management major

Duhnke is a four-year player for Clarion, who is the starting point guard on this season’s team. In her career she has scored 272 points to go with 194 assists, 33 steals and 35 rebounds. This season she is averaging 4.7 ppg to go with 1.5 rpg, 4.1 apg and 1.4 spg in 24 contests. She scored a career-high 18 points her sophomore season vs. Ashland and has a twice record a career-high 7 assists this season, once vs. Edinboro and once vs. Slippery Rock.

ALLISON STODART

Daughter of Dave & Micki Stodart—Secondary Ed./Math major

Stodart has been a four-year starter for the Golden Eagles starting 93 of the 103 games she has played for the Golden Eagles. She 11th in school history in scoring with 989 points and is 11 points shy of becoming the 11th player at Clarion to go over 1,000 career points. Ali is also 6th in school history with 246 assists to go with 308 rebounds and 141 steals. She is also third in school history in three-pointers made (230) and attempted (722). She also holds the school record for three-pointers made in a game with nine. This season Stodart is averaging 11.5 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 3.1 apg and 2.0 spg in 24 games. She scored a career-high 27 points vs. Shippensburg her freshman season and had a season-high 21 points vs. Slippery Rock Wednesday. Ali is a two-sport athlete for the Golden Eagles also playing softball.

TAMEKA WASHINGTON

Daughter of Theodore & Barbara Washington—Business marketing major

Washington has a been a key contributor for four years for the Golden Eagles and is 13th in school history with 888 points. She has also grabbed 382 career rebounds to go with 187 career assists and 130 career steals. This season she is averaging 8.8 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 2.3 apg and 1.95 spg in 24 games. She scored a career high 23 points vs. West Chester her sophomore season, and had a season-high 19 points vs. Slippery Rock Wednesday.

COURTNEY WILLMAN

Daughter of Gene Willman & Donna Nattanail—Accounting major

Willman has also been a key contributor for Clarion in her four seasons scoring 843 career points to go with 590 career rebounds, which ranks 8th in school history. Those numbers are made more impressive considering Courtney missed the final 10 games last season with an injury. At the time she got hurt she was averaging 9.1 ppg and 5.4 rpg. This season Willman has rebounded from the injury to average 8.7 ppg and 6.0 rpg while also tying for the team lead with 13 blocked shots. Willman scored a career-high 29 points vs. Edinboro her sophomore season and has twice scored 22 points in a game this year, once vs. East Stroudsburg and once vs. Stonehill. Willman also had a career-high 15 rebounds vs. West Chester her sophomore season while she had a season-high 10 boards against Mansfield this year.

MEN’S TEAM HONORING FIVE PLAYERS

Clarion’s men’s team is honoring five players: Rollie Smith, Chris Kelley, Stephen Nesmith, Dereck Rankin and Ben Meese. A short bio on each player appears below.

ROLLIE SMITH

Son of Taryn Smith—Management major

Smith has been a 4-year starter for the Golden Eagles and has helped Clarion to a record of 72-34 in his four seasons including a 31-14 PSAC-West mark and a PSAC and a PSAC-West title. Rollie ranks 10th in school history with 1,383 points and 5th in school history in assists with 441. Rollie has been a clutch performer for the Eagles as well winning numerous games with late shots in his four-year career. Smith was the PSAC Tournament MVP in 2001 after his three-pointer with 6 seconds left tied the championship game against West Chester. He then scored 7 points in overtime to lead the Eagles to an 80-77 win and their first PSAC Title. This season Smith is averaging 19.9 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 3.8 apg & 1.8 spg in 24 games.

CHRIS KELLEY

Son of Jessie & Dorothy Kelley—Liberal Studies major

Kelley has played two seasons for Clarion (2000 & 2003) and has scored 547 points while grabbing 382 rebounds. With Kelley in the line-up, the Golden Eagles have won one PSAC-West title (2000), have an overall record of 37-14 and a PSAC-West mark of 17-4. Kelley is a player who brings a lot of heart to the floor averaging 7.5 rpg in his career despite going against players 3 or 4 inches taller than him every night. This season Kelley is averaging 9.9 ppg, 8.4 rpg & 2.1 spg in 24 games

STEPHEN NESMITH

Son of Robert & Waverly Nesmith—Communication major

Nesmith has played four seasons for Clarion and has scored 205 points while grabbing 226 rebounds. Clarion has made the PSAC playoffs in all four of Nesmith’s seasons and won the PSAC title in 2001 and PSAC-West title in 2000. A tough defensive player as well, Nesmith has drawn numerous charges throughout his career. This season Nesmith is averaging 5.3 ppg & 4.6 rpg in eight contests.

DERECK RANKIN

Son of Virginia & David Rankin—Communication major

Rankin is a two-year player for the Golden Eagles and a starter on this year’s squad. He has scored 405 points to go with 131 assists. He is a transfer from Sullivan C.C. where he averaged 14.0 ppg, 7 apg and 4 spg. This season, Rankin is averaging 11.8 ppg, 3.0 apg and 1.5 spg in 24 games.

BEN MEESE

Son of David & Joyce Meese—Rehabilitative Science major

Meese has played two seasons (2000 & 2003) for the Golden Eagles and has appeared in 34 games, including 24 this season with 19 starts. He has scored 51 career points to go with 22 blocks and 58 rebounds. The Golden Eagles won the PSAC-West title in 2000. This season Meese is averaging 1.9 ppg & 1.9 rpg to go with 21 blocks. While a junior in eligibility, Meese is planning on graduating before next season and does not plan on playing.
