GOLDEN EAGLES CIGICH NAMED PSAC-WEST PLAYER OF THE WEEK FOR 2nd STRAIGHT WEEK
Clarion University sophomore forward Heather Cigich (Davidsville/Conemaugh Twp.) is the PSAC-West Player of the Week for the second straight week.
For the week Cigich averaged 16.0 ppg and 9.5 rpg despite missing the entire second half of Clarion’s 77-73 win at Lock Haven Wednesday.
On Saturday, she was one of the reasons why Clarion was able to erase a 29-point first-half deficit and a 28-point deficit with 19 minutes to play in a 78-75 win over Shippensburg at Tippin Gym. In the game she scored 26 points and grabbed 15 rebounds, her 10th double-double of the season and her fourth double-double in her last five games. For the week she hit 53.5 percent of her shots (15-28).
For the season Cigich is fourth in the PSAC in scoring (18.8 ppg) and fifth in rebounding (10.1 rpg) and has helped Clarion to a 13-7 overall record and a 3-2 start in the PSAC-West. In just 46 career games, Cigich has scored 687 points (14.9 ppg) while grabbing 444 rebounds (9.7 rpg).
NOTES: Clarion returns to action Wednesday when it hosts Edinboro at 6 p.m. … Cigich has won the PSAC-West Player of the Week award three times this season.
