CLARION RANKED FOURTH IN ATLANTIC REGION
The Clarion University women’s volleyball team is ranked fourth in first NCAA Division II Atlantic Region poll released Wednesday.
The Golden Eagles (18-3 overall, 4-2 PSAC-West) are coming off a 3-0 win over Slippery Rock Tuesday night. They are ranked behind three other PSAC-West teams – No. 1 California, No. 2 Edinboro and No. 3 Lock Haven. Clarion lost 3-2 to Cal and 3-1 to Edinboro and beat Lock Haven 3-1 earlier this season.
Clarion returns to action Tuesday when it hosts Lock Haven at 7 p.m.
NOTES – Clarion has qualified for the NCAA D-II Tournament in four of the past five season including last year … The Golden Eagles have won 20 or more games a school-record six straight times … The Regional rankings are used to help determine the participants in the NCAA Division II Tournament (Basically, an automatic qualifier is taken from each of the three conferences in the Atlantic Region – PSAC, Carolinas Conference and the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) and the top five ranked teams not already qualified are then taken).
