GENTILE SETS GOLDEN EAGLE SEASON DIGS MARK

With 20 digs in Clarion’s 3-1 (31-23, 30-28, 19-30, 30-26) win over Gannon Thursday, Clarion University freshman volleyball player Vicky Gentile (Euclid, Ohio/Villa Angela-St. Joseph) became the school’s all-time single-season digs leader with 615.

Gentile, Clarion’s Libero, surpasses the previous mark of 602 set by Melanie Bull, the school’s all-time career digs leader with 2,000, set in 2001.

With the win the Golden Eagles are now 28-6 overall and are ranked fourth in the Atlantic Region.

Clarion, which is also 5-3 in the PSAC-West, hosts Slippery Rock in a key PSAC-West match Tuesday. With a win and a loss by either IUP (vs. Lock Haven) or California (vs. Edinboro) the Golden Eagles will clinch their first outright PSAC Playoff spot since 1990. Clarion qualified for the PSAC Playoffs play-in game in 1997 losing to Lock Haven.
