CLARION’S HEYL NAMED CO-PSAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK |

Sara Heyl, a 5-10 senior outside hitter on the Clarion University women’s volleyball team, is the Co-PSAC-West Player of the Week for the week ending with games Oct. 2. Heyl (Midlothian, VA/Clover Hill) led Clarion to a 6-0 week by tallying 105 kills, 61 digs, 12 blocks and a .394 hitting percentage. She averaged 5.53 kills and 3.21 digs per game. Clarion went 5-0 in the Clarion Holiday Inn Classic defeating Mt. Olive 3-1 and West Liberty, Geneva, Marietta and Lycoming 3-0. Clarion also beat Slippery Rock 3-0 in PSAC-West play Sept. 28. Heyl’s best effort of the week came again Mt. Olive with 25 kills, 17 digs and three blocks. Clarion is 17-5 overall, 3-2 PSAC-West following Tuesday night’s 3-1 win over Edinboro. Heyl shared the award with IUP’s Brittany Gates. |
