CLARION RANKED THIRD IN FIRST ATLANTIC REGION POLL
The Clarion University women’s volleyball team is ranked third in the first NCAA Division II Atlantic Region Poll released Oct. 8 for games through Oct. 5.
The Golden Eagles (20-5) were ranked behind fellow PSAC-West rivals Lock Haven and Edinboro, and Clarion defeated Edinboro Oct. 7 3-1.
Last season the Golden Eagles set a school record in wins going 31-5 and were ranked third in the final Atlantic Region poll. They qualified for the NCAA Division II playoffs for the first time in school history losing 3-2 in the first round to Lees-McRae.
Clarion returns to action Friday when it hosts West Chester in a PSAC Crossover match.
NOTES: Each of the three conferences in the Atlantic Region, the PSAC, the CIAA and the CVAC receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Region Tournament. The next three highest ranked teams also receive a bid.
