BULL AND HILL NAMED TO DAKTRONICS ALL-ATLANTIC REGION TEAMS
For the second consecutive year, Clarion University’s Melanie Bull (York/Susquehannock) and Jackie Hill (York/Susquehannock) have been named Daktronics All-Atlantic Region.
Bull, a senior outside hitter, is a first-team selection, while Hill, a senior setter, is a second team selection. Last season both players were first-team choices.
Bull had another stellar campaign in 2003 playing in 36 matches and recoding a school record 584 kills (4.79 per game), while adding 523 digs, (4.29 per game), 47 service aces and 59 blocks. Her 4.79 kills per game were second most in the PSAC, while her 4.29 digs per game were seventh in the conference.
In her career, Bull set school records for career kills (1,926) and career digs (2,000) while also setting the single-season school record for digs (601 in 2001). She also finished her career third in school history in service aces with 187.
Hill, meanwhile, also had an outstanding season for the Golden Eagles not to mention a record-setting year. She played in 35 matches this season with 1,425 assists (11.97 per game), 377 digs (3.17 per game), 75 kills, 46 service aces and 84 blocks. Her 1,425 set assists were third most in school history (she is also No. 1 and No. 2), and her 11.97 assists per game were the fourth most in the PSAC this season.
In her career, Hill is the school record holder in assists with 5,846 and the school record holder in single-season assists (1,552 in 2001). She is also second in school history to Bull in digs with 1,460, seventh in school history in blocks with 319 and seventh in school history in service aces with 159.
Hill and Bull were both American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Atlantic Region team members this year, as well as first-team PSAC-West selections.
The two-some helped Clarion to a 26-10 record this season including a 5-5 mark in the PSAC-West. The Golden Eagles qualified for the NCAA Division II Playoffs for the second year in a row and for the second time in school history. In the last two seasons, Clarion has gone 57-15.
NOTES – By virtue of her selection the first team, Bull is now eligible for Daktronics All-America consideration.
