GOLDEN EAGLES BULL NAMED PSAC-WEST PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Clarion University senior outside hitter Melanie Bull (York/Susquehannock) is the PSAC-West Player of the Week for the week ending with games on Sept. 28.
Bull, who has won the award twice this season, helped the Golden Eagles to a 5-0 week that included a 3-0 PSAC-West victory over California. She averaged 5.38 kills and 4.31 digs per contest during the week all while hitting at a .338 clip. For the week she totaled 86 kills, 69 digs and 10 aces. Her top effort game against Millersville when she accumulated 26 kills and 16 digs in a 3-1 Clarion victory.
On the season Bull has 320 kills, 265 digs and 39 service aces. She leads the team in both service aces and kills and is tied for the team lead in digs. Clarion is 15-4 overall and 2-1 in the PSAC-West.
In her career, Bull is the Golden Eagles all-time kills leaders (1,662) and digs (1,742) leader while also holding the single-season school records in kills (548 - 2002) and digs (602 in 2001). Last season she was both PSAC-West First Team and Atlantic Region First Team while helping Clarion to a record-setting 31-win season (31-5) and the school’s first ever NCAA Division II Regional playoff berth.
