CLARION DEFEATS SLIPPERY ROCK IN PSAC-WEST MATCHUP

CLARION -- Behind 26 kills and 15 digs from junior outside hitter Melanie Bull, the Clarion University women's volleyball team moved to 14-1 overall and 3-1 in the PSAC-West with a 3-1 win over Slippery Rock Tuesday night at Tippin Gym.

 
After dropping game one 30-24, the Golden Eagles stormed back to take game two 30-27, game three 30-21 and game four 30-22. It was the first time this season a match involving Clarion has been stretched past three games. Clarion is 13-1 in matches going three games and 1-0 in matches going four games.
 
In addition to Bull's big night, Clarion also got 60 set assists and 16 digs from Jackie Hill, 23 digs from Laurie Hepler and 12 kills a piece from Beth Stalder and Tonta Zatko.
 
Clarion returns to action this weekend when it hosts the Holiday Inn Clarion Classic Friday and Saturday. Clarion will be joined by Concorida (NY), Wheeling Jesuit, Lees-McRae, Slippery Rock and Shippensburg. Action starts at 2 p.m. Friday in Tippin and continues at 9 a.m. Saturday morning.
